Hypoxia

Oxygen is present in the environment, the environment around people and around cells within organisms. The normal gaseous environment consists of 21% oxygen.

There are some conditions that cells face where there is limited extracellular oxygen. These conditions are called hypoxic conditions. Hypoxia is considered any environment where there is only 0 to 5% oxygen.

Some hypoxic conditions include cells at the interior of tumors, cells involved with early wound healing, and other  healthy and disease states within the body.
